Welcome to Lauren, our new Project Manager!

We are very excited to welcome Lauren to our ambitious team!

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to Lauren who joins BART as Project Officer. Lauren has a Masters in River Environments and their Management, achieved following a BSc in Environmental Geoscience. Her Masters had a strong focus on her passions: applied river restoration and geomorphology. Following her studies, and time working in consultancy, Lauren spent several years working for the Environment Agency (EA), as a Geomorphology Technical Advisor, for Kent, South, London and East Sussex. There she provided geomorphological technical advice and guidance to a wide spectrum of infrastructure, restoration and natural flood management proposals, to ensure plans worked in accordance with natural processes. She further managed and assisted others with in-house project delivery, which included volunteer co-ordination, technical restoration design and landowner engagement. Lauren is ambitious and is excited to further strengthen collaborative working relationships with our local partners to develop and deliver projects within the Bristol Avon Catchment. As one of our Project Managers she will be running many of our projects from the initial planning stage through to funding and delivery.

The BART team are looking forward to working with Lauren and we hope you will all make her feel welcome across the catchment as she works with partners and stakeholders to enhance the Bristol Avon.

Have your say in the Challenges and Choices consulation

The Environment Agency have launched a consultation seeking views on the challenges our waters face and the choices we all need to make to improve and protect this vital and precious resource.

By responding to this consultation you will be helping to shape the management of the water environment. The information gathered through this consultation will help the EA update the current river basin management plans, starting with the publication of draft plans in 2020.

The EA will also use your responses to help consider how some of the current approaches to the management of water in England will need to change in response to a changing climate and a growing population.

The Challenges and Choices consultation seeks views on:

  • the challenges that threaten the water environment
  • how we can work together to manage our waters
  • who should pay

The future of our rivers and their catchments will be impacted on by the decisions made so please make your voice heard.

You are invited to submit your views to the EA via the link below. The closing date for receipt of your comments is 24 April 2020.
